About Our Team at Benmar Construction
Thank you for stopping by Benmar Construction! Below you’ll learn more about the Benmar team.
Gary Bennett has had his Contractor’s License since 2007. The patriarch of the Bennett family is known for his pragmatic approach to business and unparalleled love for his wife and family. Spending every day operating the business with his children inspires him, along with the clatter and laughter of the Bennett grandchildren who frequent the office.
A resident old timer of Marion County, Gary graduated from Lake Weir High School. His father and uncles were all in the construction business and so one might figure it’s in the blood. Gary’s plain spoken demeanor is the culmination of decades of experience in many construction capacities. Gary enjoys the remodel projects and working with disabled veterans to ensure their comfort and safety in their homes. Customers both residential and commercial find him to be detail oriented and honest. Gary doesn’t mind telling folks he had a drug issue when he was a child– that he got drug to church by his parents when the doors were open. And that’s where he stays, unless of course, it’s the weekend; then he is on the road with his traveling Christian singing group building faith.
Jeremiah Bennett is a Certified Building Contractor. A Marion County native, at a young age he learned to properly swing a hammer alongside his father, Gary. Jeremiah was brought up around the construction business with family working as framers, builders and heavy equipment operators. He graduated from Belleview High school in 2002 and pursued a career in aviation before joining his father in the construction industry in 2007.
The quintessential family man, you can find him on a Saturday night huddled around a campfire with his wife Nicole and their three children, toasting marshmallows and swapping stories. Or perhaps hosting a pre-Thanksgiving meal with fifty folks and twice that in children. This is where Jeremiah is most comfortable, in the company of family and friends, both at work and home. He is dedicated in his work ethic and to those who need a hand up. Jeremiah’s belief in God is woven into every aspect of his life and is the cornerstone of how he conducts business. A belief that was instilled in him by his father Gary, along with microwaving ice cream for ten seconds before eating it.
Kristy Martter is the Benmar Office Manager and a Marion County native. Kristy has over a decade in administrative experience and is grateful for the opportunity to work with family. When she isn’t fielding calls and keeping everyone organized and on point, she is in mom mode wrangling children and loving every minute of it. Kristy is married to the love of her life, Billy– and they are the proud parents of three children, whom she considers to be her most significant achievement thus far. Admittedly the best job she ever had, Kristy is thankful for what she describes as God’s perfect timing and looks forward to raising the next generation in construction.
Kathy Courtney joined the Benmar team in the fall of 2014 as the part time administrative assistant. Born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, Kathy and her family moved to Ocala in 2006. Her husband Darryl’s job as a civil designer for a local engineering firm in Ocala is what prompted their move.
Kathy has over 20 years in the customer service industry. After a career in the staffing industry as the Director of Operations and Training for the corporate office, plus two branch offices, she decided to become a stay-at-home mom for her two boys. Cody a junior at UF, and Jacob a junior at Forest High, are practically grown now but the time with them is what she treasures the most. Both Kathy and Darryl give all the credit to God to have allowed her to stay at home for 10 years and be a part of their children’s childhood. God and family is what Kathy values most.
Kathy will tell you that her job at Benmar is definitely her dream job come true, because they share those same values, God and family first.
